The Mass and Blessing of Roses in honor of St. Therese will take place at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 2 at the Carmelite Monastery. Our celebration this year is particularly meaningful since it will take place in the great Jubilee Year of Mercy. St. Therese can surely claim a place among those saints who, to quote Pope Francis, "made divine mercy their mission in life."
Father Jude Peters, O.C.D. will be the celebrant and homilist. Father Jude was born in Uniontown, PA in 1957. After graduating from St. Francis University, Loreto, PA with a degree in Religious Studies, he was employed as a teacher of religion in Diocesan High Schools. He entered the Discalced Carmelite Order in 1981 and was professed in 1983. After completing his theological studies at the Catholic University of America he was ordained to the priesthood in 1989. Father has served the Carmelite Order in various capacities: as Director of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians in Holy Hill, Wisconsin (Holy Hill was designated a Minor Basilica by Pope Benedict XVI in 2006); as Vicar Provincial of the Washington Province of Discalced Carmelites and as Prior of the Carmelite Monastery at Holy Hill. He is presently serving his third term as Provincial of the Washington Province.
