Saturday, May 3, 2014, 9:00 AM - 12:00 AM
A special Mass sponsored by the Office of Pro-Life Apostolate and ‘Repeal, Lafayette’ committee will be held at 9:00 AM on Saturday, May 3, at St. Patrick Church in Lafayette (406 E. Pinhook Road). The focus will be on praying for an end to the death penalty in our state, as well as praying for an end to all violence. In the words of Father Keith LaBove, the main celebrant, “It is an appropriate follow up to Divine Mercy Sunday.”
Inspired by God's gracious gift of Divine Mercy, those who gather for the Mass will pray for victims of violence and an end to the death penalty. The focus will be praying for all those on death row, especially those nearing execution, as well as those who have suffered from their violent actions.
Believing in the inherent dignity of the human person, and the sanctity of human life, we pray for an end to direct attacks on any human life, from conception to natural death. We pray for an end to violence in our homes, on our streets, on the battlefields, and in our prisons.
