St. Edmond KC Council #10293 will be sponsoring the annual St. Edmond Church Right to Life/Pro-Life walk on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Lafayette.
We will begin inside the church at 8:00 AM with reflective music and song. Father Gil Dutel, Pastor of St. Edmond's, will offer a greeting to everyone at 8:30 AM, followed by an opening prayer led by Bishop Michael Jarrell. Our guest speaker will be Mr. Ben Clapper, President of Louisiana Right to Life office.
Our 4.4 mile round-trip walk will begin at approximately 9:00 AM. We will walk from St Edmond Church (4131 W. Congress St.) to St Mary Church on Doucet Rd. (2.2.miles), where we will take a 20-25 minute refreshment and restroom break. From St. Mary's, we will proceed back to St. Edmond's Church (2;2 miles).
Our walk is fully permitted by the city of Lafayette, and we will have police escort as well as KC brothers walking the route for security. Acadian Ambulance will be present in case of injury, and St. Edmond will also provide courtesy vans for those participants who cannot walk the entire route.
We will be praying the rosary all throughout the walk as well as reflective music. Praying the rosary is a powerful intercession tool, but we invite ALL denominations who care about the sanctity of ALL life to join us as the voice of the innocent unborn. We encourage church groups to come out in unity with your appropriate signs and banners.
