Bishop Douglas Deshotel will celebrate the annual "White Coat Mass" at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, the eve of the Feast of St. Luke, patron saint of physicians. The Mass, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and the Diocese of Lafayette, recognizes the ministry of those who protect life and care for the ill and dying. Join us as we pray for our physicians, nurses, compassionate care ministers, ministers of consolation, chaplains, mental health workers, and all in the medical profession. A reception hosted by Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center will follow the Mass.
If you are a member of the healthcare community, please wear your white coat and plan to arrive by 5:45 p.m. to be able to participate in the procession into church for the Mass. We are thankful for the support of the Catholic Medical Association and the Lafayette Parish Medical Society in making this annual Mass possible.
