Congratulations! The first call you need to make is to your church parish. You will need to set up a meeting with your priest or deacon at least six months before your proposed wedding date.
At your first meeting, Father/Deacon will fill out a Prenuptial Inquiry Form with you and your fiancé. He will then ask you to take the Prepare-Enrich and register for a marriage preparation conference. Please do this as soon as you leave their office.
When do I do the online questionnaire and how do I register?
After your initial meeting with your priest or deacon, you will take an online questionnaire entitled "Prepare-Enrich." The cost of this assessment is $45 per couple and the registration form is on our Marriage Preparation section. Some churches have a trained facilitator and can offer the Prepare-Enrich questionnaire when you first contact them. Once payment has been received by the Office of Marriage and Family Life, you will be emailed a link and password to the Prepare-Enrich website. Once you and your fiancé have taken the Prepare-Enrich questionnaire online, our office will send it to your parish so that your priest or deacon can discuss it with you. This is a great tool for helping you discuss all the important issues early in your engagement!
What are the different options with regards to marriage preparation conferences?
All couples are required to take a marriage preparation course prior to their wedding. “Foundations”, which is offered by the Office of Marriage and Family Life; Engaged Encounter and Catholic Marriage Prep Online. Information on both of these programs can be found on the Marriage Preparation page.
How far in advance do I register for my marriage prep course?
Please register at least three months before your preferred conference date in order to guarantee a spot. Conferences fill up quickly and registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
