Lumen Christi Legacy Society

The Lumen Christi Legacy Society was established to recognize and thank supporters who have named this Diocese or a Catholic entity within the Diocese of Lafayette in their estate plans. Lumen Christi is Latin for “Light of Christ”. By their final and faithful generosity, Lumen Christi members ensure that the light of Christ given to them at Baptism is preserved as a light for future generations of Catholics. 

Membership in the Diocese of Lafayette Lumen Christi Legacy Society is automatic for any parishioner who designates the diocese, a Catholic school or a church parish in their estate plans. We are honored to acknowledge these special benefactors. However, the amount of your intended legacy gift is never publicly disclosed. This is a commitment known only to you, your family, and the diocesan beneficiary.

To include a legacy gift in your estate plans or if you have already done so, please complete the Intention Form found here and provide a copy to the Office of Stewardship and Development. All information is held in the strictest confidence.

To express gratitude for this final act of faith and demonstration of love for God and others, Lumen Christi members receive the following special recognitions:

• A commemorative pin to wear to Mass
• Invitation to The Lumen Christi Legacy Society Annual Mass and Reception with the Bishop
• Keepsake photo with Bishop J. Douglas Deshotel
• Invitations to the Chrism Mass, Diaconate Ordination Mass, and Priest Ordination Mass
