Congratulations! The first call you need to make is to your church parish. You will need to set up a meeting with your priest or deacon at least six months before your proposed wedding date. At your first meeting, Father/Deacon will fill out a Prenuptial Inquiry Form with you and your fiancé. He will then ask you to take the Prepare-Enrich and register for a marriage preparation course as well as a fertility awareness course. Please do this as soon as you leave their office. Classes fill up quickly.
When do I complete the online questionnaire and how do I register?
After your initial meeting with your priest or deacon, you will take an online questionnaire entitled"Prepare-Enrich."The cost of this assessment is $45 per couple. Some churches have a trained facilitator and can offer the Prepare-Enrich questionnaire when you first contact them. Once payment has been received by the Office of Marriage and Family Life, you will be emailed a link and password to the Prepare-Enrich website. Once you and your fiancé have completedthe assessment individually without discussing it with your fiance, our office will generate teh results and mail them to your specified priest or deacon. These results will be discussed at teh next scheduled meeting between the two of you and the clergy. **Please not: This is not a compatability test. There isn't a pass/fail option. The assessment is simply a tool used to resource you as a couple adn assist in the growth of your relationship.
What are the different options with regards to marriage preparation conferences?
All couples are required to take a marriage preparation course prior to their wedding. Before registering for a class, please confirm with your church parish on the preferred program as some parishes offer marriage prep within their parish (such as In Home Marriage Prep or Witness to Love).
Foundations, which is a one day class offered by the Office of Marriage and Family Life; Engaged Encounter weekend, Catholic Marriage Prep Online and parish based marriage prep programs. Information on these programs can be found on the Marriage Preparation page.
How far in advance do I register for my marriage prep course?
