In a very special ceremony on June 21, 2018 Bishop Douglas Deshotel blessed the chalices of the seven men who will be ordained to the priesthood this Saturday.
Rev. Mr. Andrew Schumacher, Rev. Mr. Kyle White, Rev. Mr. Korey Lavergne, Rev. Mr. Blake Dubroc, Rev. Mr. Ben Pitre, Rev. Mr. Brent Smith, and Rev. Mr. Stephen Pellessier presented their new chalices to Bishop Deshotel in the Immaculata Chapel during a special prayer service.
The chalices were consecrated for sacred use, meaning they cannot be used for anything other than Mass and sacred purposes. They were anointed with Holy Oil and Bishop Deshotel blessed them, designating them for use in the Liturgy.
Ordination will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette. Due to ticketed seating only in the Cathedral and very limited standing room, viewing of the Ordination Mass will be available by a live stream in the Cathedral Parish Hall. The Ordination Mass will also be streamed live on our website: http://www.diolaf.org.
Please keep these young men in your prayers in these final days on the journey to the priesthood!
