Bishop Douglas Deshotel was an honorary judge at the 6th Annual Collarnary Cook-Off at Vermilionville. On Saturday, November 12, 2018, priests from the Diocese of Lafayette showed off their culinary expertise and prepared their own authentic gumbos in a fun competition with proceeds benefitting the St. Joseph Scholarship Fund at John Paul the Great Academy. The crowd enjoyed an evening of good company, great food, and dancing with live Cajun music by Bonsoir Catin. Father Patrick Broussard took 1st place in the People's Choice Best Gumbo Award, with the JPG Seminarians coming in at 2nd and Father Garrett McIntyre in 3rd.
