On the Feast of God's Divine Mercy, the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist hosted a beautiful Holy Hour for the people of the Diocese of Lafayette. The Holy Hour included music, Adoration of the Holy Sacrament, a homily by Father Chester Arceneaux, and the Sisters from the Community of Jesus Crucified prayed the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Confessions (at safe social distancing measures) were heard outside the Cathedral. The service was streamed live on social medial platforms. Divine Mercy Sunday (also known as the Feast of the Divine Mercy) is celebrated on the second Sunday of Easter. In a series of revelations to St. Maria Faustina Kowalska in the 1930s, our Lord called for a special feast day to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Today, we know that feast as Divine Mercy Sunday, named by Blessed John Paul II at the canonization of St. Faustina on April 30, 2000.
