Congratulations to Deacon John Joseph Bourque and Deacon Andrew Killeen! They were ordained transitional deacons by Bishop Douglas Deshotel today, Saturday, May 25, 2019, at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Rev. Mr. John Joseph started at Saint Joseph Seminary College (St. Ben’s) in Covington as a Diocese of Lafayette seminarian in 2011. In June 2014, he entered the Community of Jesus Crucified and professed vows on September 14, 2016. He is a 2011 graduate of Saint Thomas More High School in Lafayette. Rev. Mr. John Joseph Bourque is being ordained for Community of Jesus Crucified in St. Martinville. He is the son of Jared and Simone Bourque of Lafayette. Deacon Bourque will preach his first Mass on Saturday, May 25, 2019, at 6 pm at Mater Dolorosa Chapel in St. Martinville. Vespers begins at 5:30 pm. Rev. Mr. Andrew Killeen started at Saint Joseph Seminary College in 2012 as a Diocese of Lafayette seminarian. He is a 2012 graduate of St. Thomas More High School. He is sponsored by St. Pius X Church parish in Lafayette. Rev. Mr. Andrew Killeen is the son of Lisa and Dan Killeen of Lafayette. Deacon Killeen will preach his first Mass on Sunday, May 26, 2019, at 11 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Lafayette. Everyone is invited to attend. Following their ordination to the Diaconate, Deacon Bourque and Deacon Killeen will undergo their final year of education and training before their expected ordination to the priesthood in 2020. Both men are students at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans. Congratulations to these two future priests!
